What drugstore-brand eyeshadow is the best??

Q: I know you'll all say 'GO MAC!! They are a bit pricey, but it's worth the price' but i'm on a budget and this whole eyeshadow stuff kinda new to me... so i think i just need to stick with drugstore brand first before moving on to 'the next step'... i wanna know what color suits me the best first.. that way,, once i buy MAC or other middle-class brand - i won't make a mistake.... soo... i just bought maybelline's this morning and it only lasted like an hour.......... is it just me or is it perhaps caused by the quality of a drugstore brand?? can you possibly point me out some great drugstore-brand eyeshadow that will give a long-lasting effect...!? Which one is better?? Buying individual or a perhaps more than one like a quad?

A: l'oreal's hip line is pretty well-pigmented, i've heard, although i haven't used any other color besides black, but i was fairly satisfied with it. the real trick here is not the formula of the eyeshadow but what you put on before it. i promise you, if you try urban decay's primer potion before you apply your shadow, you'll be amazed. too faced's shadow insurance is also a really good primer, and comes in more convenient packaging (squeezable tube rather than UOPP's wand). i hear UOPP works better, but they're the same to me. a primer also provides a neutral base so your colors go on much more vibrantly. at my work at sephora, i tried both on either of my hands, brushed on bright-colored eyeshadow on top, and went about the day. even after putting my hands under running water, the shadows didn't budge. a bottle of either is only $16 or $17, so i highly suggest you invest in one.. it'll really make the most of your drugstore makeup. which brings me to mentioning NYX eyeshadows--their color selection is comparable to MAC's, and if you use a primer beforehand, you should have really nice results.
