Q: Hey I just want to know your opinion of foundations. I have combination skin and I have some small acne that I would like to cover. I'm in high school, so I don't want to wear to much make up but I would like good coverage. Also, I live in a warm climate and spend a lot of time outside. I wanted to know your opinions about Mineral Makeup and Cream to Powder Foundation. Which of these would be a better choice? If neither, I would love other suggestions :) thanks.
A: My friend just started using bareMinerals from Bare Escentuals and she absolutely loves it. Once I get back to school, I'm thinking of trying it myself. Right now, if you're willing to pay a little more, Sephora has a starter kit with powder foundation, translucent powder, blush, and 3 brushes for $60. Normally, they cost $25 each so it's a really great deal. I've tried Cream-to-powder foundations in the past (Cover girl I believe, but don't quote me) and have been unimpressed. I have combination skin as well, and my face felt oily after wearing it for a couple of hours. I've worn Neutrogena liquid foundation forever because it gives such good coverage, but I feel so done up when I put it on and have only saved it for special occasions (i.e. going out, date nights) so I can definitely empathize with your desire to have something light and easy to put on for class. I wish I could tell you for sure that mineral foundation is the way to go from my own experience, but I do think you'd be on the right track with it, and I plan to do the same when I get a chance. (The closest Sephora to me is 2 hours away, so I'll have to wait until I get back to college where one is 10 minutes away!)
