Q: I'm 13, and I still don't shave. I asked my mom before if I could shave when I was 11 but she said the hair would grow back thick so she wouldn't let me. So I just didn't ask for a while, but all the girls in 7th grade have started shaving/waxing. I'm going into 8th grade and I'm scared I'll get teased. Girls in PE always stare at my legs and stuff, but they don't make comments. I have to go to a party where I'm wearing a sleeveless dress but my armpits are hairy so I won't be able to actually dance, you know? I'm scared to ask my mom, please help! I don't want to go behind her back or anything like that.
A: Just ask your mom. I'm 14 and when I was 11/12 I hadn't shaved yet either, so i used to take scissors and cut the hair. I finally got the nerve to ask my mom, and she was shocked that I hadn't asked sooner...so just ask and save yourself the trouble of being so self-conscious you won't dance (and fyi, is doesn't grow back very thick)
