I have very short hair...feminine makeup suggestions?

Q: I just got my hair cut into a short pixie...now I need to update my makeup to enhance my feminine features. Suggestions? I have blue eyes, brown hair, and pale skin (like my avatar). Thanks :)

A: What is your best feature? Is it your eyes? ten add eye shadow to bring out the color in them or you can line the eyes. I have a hard time doing that as my eyes tear and I'd have black eyes, but my granddaughter lines her eyes and they do pop. I think she overdoes on the make up and the sultry looks in her photos, but that is part of her age - abou 15. There are many beautiful women with short hair. From back in my day it was Mitzi Gaynor (south Pacific) and sometimes Audrey Hepburn had her hair short or it looked short. Necks look great whent he hair is short or upswept. It can be a pixie look and sort of bouncy and zingy with earrings that bounce around are are a bit long to bring more attention to the face and that lookmore feminine. My grandaughters and I make a lot of our own earrings as they are easy to do. a little class at a craft shop like Michael's or Joann's can teach you in one class. Go to the department store - a nice one - like Dillards or Macey's or nicest store you have in your area and they usually offer a free makeover in the makeup department. You can buy whatever one thing did the most for your look - if you can't afford several things. It may be a blue eye shadow to enhance your blue eyes or a lipstick that brings out features of your mouth. If your hair is really short, it could be sort of spikey or pixieish around the face or it could have highlights added around the face to perk it up. If you want to color your hair yourself - use an old toothbrush to brush in a lighter shade. Be sure to check to see what it would look like with your hair color. You take a little strand and apply a really good grade of home hair color starting at the head and pull it outward through your hair all the way to the tip. Just do it a bit around your forehead at the sides or near the ears . Don't over do it. Or you can go to a salon to see waht they would suggest as they have more selection and conditioners. You can apply a conditioner afterwards. If the color needs to be mixed, measure out the right parts in a smaller glass cup or bowl and save the rest of it to touc up later on. Once you mix it, you can't save any excess so divide it out before. You don't have to do it all - try one thing and see how that pleases you. Then decide if you want something else. Wearing a blouse with a bit more frill will also look more feminine, even if wearing old jeans. I think you will enjoy your new look. My daughter and two granddaughters just cut 10" from their locks to donate to kids who have chemo or long-term medical issues that have led to hair loss. They make wigs with the hair and my girls all got a new "do" - the cut anyway. Even the little one who didn't have 10" of hair was treated to a cut to match Mama and her sisters. If you ever let it get long again and want to cut it, check into a program like that so your haircut makes you stand up straighter and more proud because you helped someone else, too. You seem like a great girl who would love to do that and I am betting that your new haircut will get you some positive attention if you treat it as though you are more of a pixie and smile a bit more and let your eyes sparkle with your personality. Good luck to you and have a great week.
