Q: I have my 21st birthday and my engagement party coming up, I need to find some nice formal heels for the occasion. I have very wide feet and seeing as I am a 10-11 already, I can't go the 1/2 size route, and can't find any ones that fit anywhere. I'm in Sydney metro area. If anyone has any ideas they would be appreciated!
A: I feel your pain. Size 10C right here. First of all avoid buying anything online as even though you think you're buying a size 10, the shape varies so much it can feel like anything from a 9 to an 11. I have a couple of really nice pairs of shoes for formal wear from Target, sometimes they have good stuff and they go up to an 11. Avoid Payless Shoes, everything looks orthopaedic. Another suggestion is to try David Jones, they usually have a pretty big range and you should be able to find something nice in a large size. Avoid anything strappy - while they look pretty, shoving a wide flipper into them does not. I have come to accept this. Why not go for a peep toe or a sling back, maybe in something sparkly or metallic? I just did a quick google and found a shop called Generous Soles in Sydney. Maybe they can help?
