How can I incorporate Harajuku and Visual Kei style into my wardrobe?

Q: I don't want to look like somebody walking down the streets of Tokyo, but I at least want to appear very individual and different, without going out and buying all sorts of new clothes. I'm thinking of dying the underside of my hair cobalt blue, but beyond that I've really got nothing. I'm not into the cute, pink Hello Kitty type of Harajuku, by the way. I like the more dramatic stuff, like what the people are wearing in the links below. But I'm not too big on makeup. http://www.flyingczechman.org/gallery/harajuku/00%20-%20Harajuku%20fashion%20(gas%20mask).jpg http://lemonodor.com/images/troubled-harajuku-teen.jpg http://estrip.org/elmwood/users/paul/images/1105/harajuku41316.jpg http://www.japaneselifestyle.com.au/japan_picture/albums/upload/tokyo/harajuku/harajuku_IMG_1334.jpg I don't want to look as over-the-top as the girls in those pix, don't worry. =P
