Q: What is the hype in handmade goods such as designer handbags that is ridiculously priced. Shouldn't machine made products are more better in quality because of consistency ? Is it just a show to put up to jack up the price or is there a real practical reason to justify the means and cost ??
A: Part of it is the 'man hours' that go into them. Above that, is that they usually use higher quality materials so in essence they ar more likely to last. Plus, machines are capable of making mistakes, and they can't be corrected. The beauty of having a piece hand-made, is that they strive for perfection while crafting them. They aren't going to let something hit a store with a bad stitch. It's sort of like buying a Rolls Royce, they are still to this day put together by hand to ensure the best driving experience a human can possibly experience. Or if you can't relate it to that you can relate it to creating a piece of couture clothing. Everything is hand-stitched and pieced together and it usually takes over sixteen days.
